As someone passionate about authentic brand storytelling, my journey from teaching to copywriting began in 2019.

After 11 years as an English teacher, I found myself stuck. What once lit me up—nurturing young minds and watching them grow into independent thinkers—had become routine.

My heart was still in it, but my brain craved more. I needed a challenge. Something to stretch me, to fuel my intellectual growth.

That’s when I stumbled into digital marketing. It was a spark of curiosity, a new way forward. But before I could fully embrace it, the pandemic hit—75% of my income was gone. All of it, gone!

I was horrified. Was this a sign to pivot or retreat? The course I enrolled in was tough, but I’m stubborn.

Like, still-buying-books-even-with-an-unread-pile-taller-than-me stubborn.

Then, something clicked. One day, the instructor mentioned copywriting.

A superpower, he called it. One that could be wielded for good—or for manipulation.

As someone who reflects more than I should, flashes of my past hit me hard. I’d been scammed by hollow bro marketing before, losing time and money to fake claims. All my life people used the power of words to influence my decisions. Toxic family members and an abusive romantic relationship —manipulated me into actions I didn’t want.

I realized I had been under the influence of other people’s words for far too long. But I knew there was a better way of communicating.

That’s when I made my choice. I would use this superpower for good, to help others—not to deceive. Copywriting, much like teaching, is about connection.

Understanding your audience, curating a message that lands, and delivering something clear, compelling, and honest. But I knew I had to master the craft first before even considering slapping the title of a copywriter on my forehead.

So, I immersed myself in learning—books, courses, eBooks, anything I could get my hands on. I devoured it all: copywriting, psychology, human behavior. The wisdom of the old and the innovations of the new. You name it. I read it.

By 2021, I’d had enough of fake claims, misleading messages, and empty promises saturating the market. Strapped with everything I had learned, the idea for CopyVirtue was born. Using words for good. And so I started offering my services.

Fast forward three years, and I began to see a pattern with my clients. At first, they hired me just for copywriting. Little did they know, they’d get a bonus consultant, strategist, and occasional therapist. You’re welcome.

It was eye-opening to see many innovators not knowing where to start. They had big dreams, world-changing solutions, but no roadmap.

Some had marketing teams of one. Remarkable CEO’s had no mission, no vision, no brand elements to stand on. Was I the only one seeing this dangerous thread in the industry? It was chaos. Teams pulling in different directions, leadership without clarity or purpose, no values to unite them.

It infuriated me to watch these brilliant minds struggle under the weight of inconsistency. Teams spraying and praying, working in silos, pulling each other in different directions.

Unintentionally tearing apart any progress. Their internal confusion spilled over into their external messaging—and it was costing them, big time.

Brand erosion.

Increased budgets.

Decreased revenue.
